There are so many gorgeous sights, activities and landmarks to see on your visit to Eleuthera, but if you are looking for local organic fruit, vegetables, teas, conch fritters or daiquiris, with a little art and crafts
thrown in for good measure, then the Farm &  Crafters Market located at The Tea Kettle Gift Shop and Café on Cupid’s Cay is definitely the place to be.

The Farm & Crafters Market at The Tea Kettle has become a family project. It was created by local businesswoman Calae Burrows in 2018, who along with her mother Theresa Burrows owner of The Tea Kettle and saw the need to create an outlet for their goods as well as other products made on the island. Burrows’ aunt Ursula Evans is also a part of this venture.

Burrows says, “it has always been a goal of hers to create a centrally
located marketplace that was centrally located and accessible to as many visitors, farmers and artisans as possible.”

While the market, like many businesses globally was forced to close in early 2020 when COVID-19 literally brought the island to a virtual standstill, these three women did not let that hamper their spirits. As soon as protocols were relaxed and businesses allowed to resume, the Burrows women re-opened the Farm & Crafters Market in January 2021 and business has been bustling ever since.

Calae Burrows is also the CEO of Octis Organics which creates organic pepper sauces, seasonings, a wide variety of teas, bath salts, beauty creams, jams and jellies. Her mantra is, “no preservatives and only the highest grade tea leaves, honey, pepper and salt are used in her products.” Her merchandise can also be found at the marketplace.

Burrows says she would like to see the market expand to include more artists and farmers and is constantly encouraging younger artisans and entrepreneurs to bring out their wares and pursue careers in business.

The Farmer’s Market takes place every Thursday and Friday from 10am- 4pm at The Tea Kettle Café & Gift Shop is located on Cupids Cay, in Governor’s Harbour.
